Carlos A. Forment is director of the Centro de Investigación de la Vida Pública and teaches politics at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín in Buenos Aires. His publications include Democracy in Latin America, 1760 – 1900, vol. 1, Civic Selfhood and Public Life in Mexico and Peru (2003). He is currently completing the second volume, on Argentina and Cuba.
