A workshop at The Cottages (Johannesburg), 47 February 2011

Summer Conversations (SC) provide a safe, pleasurable space to a small group of scholars willing to draw on a diverse range of analyses to engage, in a free and experimental exchange, on questions that point to new paths for critical theory at the interface of local and global circuits of knowledge.

Local participants include colleagues from the University of Stellenbosch, the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of the Western Cape and the University of Cape Town.

From the University of California system will come six scholars whose principal interests/expertise are each on different parts of the world. They include: Ackbar Abbas, Saree Makdisi, Teresa Caldeira, Ana Tsing, David Goldberg and Herman Gray.
