We are thrilled to announce as a preview of our forthcoming Fall 2011 issue the exclusive online publication of Brian T. Edwards’s essay “Tahrir: Ends of Circulation,” available NOW on the Public Culture website.
On the ground in Cairo, as uprisings continue across the Middle East, Edwards questions the Western media’s focus on digital networks as instrumental to the spread of revolutionary messages in Egypt, and asks how this dominant narrative obscures the content of those messages and the people and the means through which that revolution took place.
