Andrew Irving is a research fellow at the Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology and at the Research Institute for Cosmopolitan Cultures, University of Manchester. His research explores how the world appears to people close to death, particularly in relation to the often radical transformations in being and belief that occur when people confront their own or someone else’s mortality.
