Beatriz Jaguaribe

Beatriz Jaguaribe is a professor in the School of Communications at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She is the author of Quem você pensa que ela é (1994), Fins de século: Cidade e cultura no Rio de Janeiro (1998), Mapa do Maravilhoso do Rio de Janeiro (2002), and O choque do real: Estética, mídia e cultura (2007) and is the editor, with Nizia Villaça, of Rio de Janeiro: Cartografias simbólicas (1994). She has also written several essays on urban culture and the inventions of the self in literature and visual culture.
