Christopher Pinney is a professor of anthropology and visual culture at University College London. He has been conducting ethnographic fieldwork and archival research in India intermittently since 1982. The Coming of Photography in India, based on the Panizzi Lectures, was published by the British Library in 2008. Photography and Anthropology is forthcoming from Reaktion in 2011.
