p>Fernando Escalante Gonzalbo teaches international relations at El Colegio de México. He is the author of a number of books on political theory, historical sociology, and cultural criticism, including Ciudadanos imaginarios (1992) and In the Eyes of God: A Study in the Culture of Suffering (2006). He also participates with a critical voice in Mexico’s print and television media.
