Hugh Raffles is Chair of the Department of Anthropology at the New School for Social Research in New York. He is the author of In Amazonia: A Natural History (2002). His new book, Insectopedia, explores human-insect encounters in a wide range of times and places and will be published by Pantheon in 2009.
