Judith Surkis

Judith Surkis specializes in French intellectual, cultural, and gender history. She has taught at Harvard University and will be a member of the School of Social Sciences at the Institute for Advanced Study, 2010 – 11. She is the author of Sexing the Citizen: Morality and Masculinity in France, 1870 – 1920 (2006) and is currently writing a second book titled “Scandalous Subjects: Intimacy and Indecency in France and French Algeria, 1830 – 1930.”
