Lauren Berlant

Lauren Berlant is George M. Pullman Professor of English and director of the Lesbian and Gay Studies Project at the University of Chicago. Beginning with The Anatomy of National Fantasy (1991) through The Queen of America Goes to Washington City (1997) and The Female Complaint (forthcoming), she has developed an analysis of public spheres as affect worlds. Her essay in this issue will appear in her forthcoming volume Cruel Optimism.
