Rita Chin is an associate professor at the University of Michigan. She is the author of The Guest Worker Question in Postwar Germany (2007) and coauthor of After the Nazi Racial State: Difference and Democracy in Germany and Europe (2009). She is currently working on a book about the European Left and its engagements with “difference,” race, and immigration in the postwar period.
