Webb Keane

University of Michigan

Webb Keane is a professor and the director of graduate studies in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Michigan. He is the author of Signs of Recognition: Powers and Hazards of Representation in an Indonesian Society (1997) and Christian Moderns: Freedom and Fetish in the Mission Encounter (2007) as well as of articles on materiality, objectification, language, religion, money and markets, and social theory. His current research centers on media and religion.
